Orienteering

Each year, the cadets of RCSCC Admiral Mountbatten get the opportunity to participate in a regional orienteering competition commonly held at the Laurentian Conservation Area. Orienteering is an individual and team-based sport where the cadets are provided with a topographical map of the area and a compass. They must run around the area finding control points marked on their maps. All cadets are sorted into teams then they compete individually later in the day. During the team events, cadets are scored based on how many markers they find. In the individual race, they are scored on how quickly they can find all markers in order. If the participants are fast enough to place on the podium, they are given the opportunity to compete at the provincial level.
